Pretty Ballerina

- The Left Banke

I had a date with a pretty ballerina
Her hair so brilliant that it hurt my eyes
I asked her for this dance
And then she obliged me
Was I surprised, yeah

Was I surprised,
No not at all

I called her yesterday,
It should have been tomorrow
I could not keep
The joy that was inside
I begged for her to tell me
If she really loved me
Somewhere a mountain is moving
Afraid it’s moving without me

I had a date with a pretty ballerina
Her hair so brilliant that it hurt my eyes
I asked her for this dance
And then she obliged me
Was I surprised, yeah
Was I surprised, no not at all

And when I wake on a dreary Sunday morning
I open up my eyes to find there’s rain
And something strange within said,
"go ahead and find her
Just close your eyes, yeah
Just close your eyes and she’ll be there"

She’ll be there...

Tara Kelly

There is nothing more meaningful in our lives than imagination and creativity as we strive for ways to express ourselves through the arts. My daughter, Tara, is an artist who has discovered a variety of talents within herself. I am proud to offer her links for those who enjoy good writing, music, website designs and photographs. Tara's first book "Harmonic Feedback" was released in May of 2010; her second book 'C-SideTales' is due for release in 2011.

"Tara's book 'Harmonic Feedback' is an impossible to put down, must read book. brilliantly written and filled with music, but even more so with emotional truth..." -- Stephanie Kuehnert, author of 'Ballads of Suburbia' and ‘I Wanna be your Joey Ramone'

Tara Kelly is a one-girl band, writer, filmmaker, video editor, and digital photographer and best of all she is my daughter...enjoy...

This Used To Be My Playground”

(written and produced by Madonna and Shep Pettibone)

this used to be my playground

this used to be my childhood dream
this used to be the place i ran to
whenever i was in need of a friend
why did it have to end
and why do they always say

don't look back, keep your head held high
don't ask them why because life is short
and before you know, you're feeling old
and your heart is breaking
don't hold on to the past
well, that's too much to ask

this used to be my playground
this used to be my childhood dream
this used to be the place i ran to
whenever i was in need of a friend
why did it have to end
and why do they always say

no regrets, but i wish that you were here with me
well then there's hope yet
i can see your face in our secret place
you're not just a memory
say goodbye to yesterday
those are words i'll never say

this used to be my playground
this used to be our pride and joy
this used to be the place we ran to
that no one in the world could dare destroy

this used to be our playground
this used to be our childhood dream
this used to be the place we ran to
i wish you were standing here with me

this used to be our playground
this used to be our childhood dream
this used to be the place we ran to
the best things in life are always free
wishing you were here with me...
